We need hands on the layouts before we need hands at the door.

Our signature exhibits — the era walk-through and the museum’s centerpiece model train layouts — don’t build themselves. We’re recruiting a crew of modelers, builders, and railroad hobbyists to help construct the exhibits that will greet our first visitors.

Where We Need You

  • Help construct our working model-train layouts and historical era installations. No professional experience required. Experienced modelers, scenery builders, and wiring/DCC volunteers especially welcome.

  • Work alongside our curatorial team cataloguing, cleaning, and prepping pieces from our model-train collections for display. Ideal for collectors and retired hobby-shop staff.

  • Not ready to build, but want to be there on opening day? Train alongside the exhibits as they're built.

  • Painting, light construction, event setup, and the dozens of jobs that get a museum open.
